41-80 Spells
Most spells level 41-50 can be bought from an NPC vendor, however as you head into your 50's and 60's you may notice that some spells need to be quested, researched or found as loot from monsters. Most of the time you can buy spell loot drops and from the bazaar for a reasonable price.
Spell Overview by Expansion/Level
Planes of Power:- Some of your 60 - 65 level spells will need to be traded for the following looted 'no drop' parchments, from a chap called Pathfinder Villiken who resides within the library with the Plane of Knowledge:-
Ethereal Parchments will yield you 61-62nd level spells.
Spectral Parchments will yield you 63-64th level spells.
Glyphed Rune Words will yield you 65th level spells.
Hand Pathfinder Villiken your parchments/Words and he will exchange it for a level appropriate spell.
You may also find these spells for sale in the Bazaar (as they are droppable once given to Villiken).
Omens of War - The 66-70 OoW spells are detailed in the following guide, that also gives good camps to find your spell drops. Click the link below to find out:
Dragons of Norrath - A useful level 61 DoN spell is Earthern Embrace. It is a three minute snare that rarely resists, so is incredibly useful for those higher level mobs that resist, including raid encounters. It costs 120 radiant or ebon crystals and can be bought from either the good or evil camp in Lavastorm. For further DoN item information click here
Depths of Darkhollows brings a new level 68 spell called Hail of Arrows. It's a rather nice spell that gives you the opportunity of firing up to four arrows instead of one. Find the link to this spell quest here
Prophecy of Ro -The PoR root spell - Elddar's Grasp can be gained by doing a mission in Skylance. Scorched Earth is a direct damage spell gained via various quests in The Plane of Rage. Both spells are level 70.
The Serpent's Spine - Most level 71-75 spells can be bought from Hemmet, Master Sureshot in The Steppes zone. Some are a bit pricey, but at least you don't have to group or do quests to get them. The Quiet Wanderer in Sunderock Springs sells the level 71 spell 'Drifting Fog' which is a harmony spell for outdoor use it costs approximately 314 platinum.
The serpent's pine spells (and subsequent expansions it seems) bring in a different spell ranking system. You can have the original spell, ranks II and rank III spells (which go up in power as the rank gets higher). Rank II spells drop from various mobs in TSS and rank III TSS spells can be gained via this quest in Ashengate.
The Buried Sea - The following spells can be purchased from Halon Griere in The Buried Sea zone. But it isn't as simple as that (ofcourse!) first you have the correct Blacksail Smugglers faction by completing various quests in The Buried Sea zone. Doubloons are the currency that the Blacksail Smugglers use and you can only get these by completing groupable missions.
The minimum faction required for the spells are as follows:-
lvl 71 spell = indifferent
lvl 72 spell = indifferent
lvl 73 spell = amiable
lvl 74 spell = amiable
lvl 75 spell = kindly
Spell: Nature's Entropy (level 71) - Cost - 100 doubloons
Spell: Vinelash Cascade (level 73) - Cost - 150 doubloons
Spell: Thundering Blades (level 75) - Cost - 300 doubloons
For the Rank II version of the above spells, visit Trader Leanian in Katta Castrum. You may need up to ally faction to purchase them plus some hard earned orux. Here is a useful link to a site that details items this vendor sells, plus some other merchants in the area.
I can only find out where to purchase the Rank III Nature's Entropy spell, which will cost you 50 phosphenes and kindly faction from Master Ulyssus in Katta Castrum.
Secrets of Faydwer - As an overview of the 76-80 spells:-
We get a new 76 harmony spell (Drifting Haze). On the archery front, we gain a lvl 79 upgrade to Hail of Arrows (Arc of Arrows), the 79 spell (Eyes of the Peregrine) a self buff which improves your archery by 41% and increases your mana (amongst other things, such as increasing player size by 25%?). Still archery related, there is also an 80 archery spell (Heartsting) that decreases hps by 1967, however the catch is you can't be in combat. We also get a 15% archery modifier discipline called Aimshot at level 80. Our heal now maxes out (without modifiers) at 1645. Other nice additions are an upgrade to Guard of the Earth, Snarl of the Predator and Strength of the Forest Stalker.
The only unique spell is 'Skylight Sagacity' which gives us improved see invisibility (2) and ultravision for a very short duration. Maybe there are some very sneaky mobs out there now.. It doesn't look like you have to do any crazy quests or mad camping for the rank I spells/tomes as they can be purchsed from vendors:-
Level 76 spells can be purchased from:- Ellymil Cogswin in Dragonscale Hills, location +902, -531 in front of a windmill (ofcourse!)
Level 77 spells can be purchased from:- Kedem Teague in The Loping Plains, location: -2320 , -520 , +30 (SE of Bloodmoon Keep zl)
Level 78 spells can be bought from - Inizen Nogglezop in Fortress Mechanotus, location +897, -1461, +405
Level 79 spells can be purchased from:- Naene Ebonlocke in the Hills of Shade at loc -60 1477 -1
Level 80 spells can be purchased from:- Seyan Ebonlocke in the Hills of Shade at loc 975 -580 +67
Rank II Spells
Most rank II spells are droppable from level equivalent mobs. However some rank II spells can be bought from vendors, once you have a high enough faction.
The two (so far) corresponding rank II ranger spells are as follows:-
Level 78 - Arc of Arrows Rank II - Purchased from Derak Fangbreaker in The Loping Plains for 2320pp. The faction to work upon is Fangbreakers to kindly (the link shows the quests to do to raise your faction).
Level 80 - Tome of Aimshot Discipline rank II - Purchased from Automated vending unit II in Dragonscale Hills with ally faction. The faction you need to work upon is Ak'anon Strike Force 5 (the link shows the quests to do to raise your faction) and you get these quests from an NPC called Sigglik in Dragonscale Hills. Apparently you need to repeat each quest 15 times to gain ally faction. Once you are ally head to the cannon which is east of the steamfort zone in. There is a vendor there name Automated vending unit II. He sells spells to those with ally faction.
