Thurgadin Gate Potions
Got yourself stuck in a tricky situation and need to get the heck out of dodge? Read on to find out how to make Thurgadin Gate Potions (vials of velium vapors). Thurgadin gate potions take 10 seconds to cast, are no trade and lore (so you can't sell them and can't have more than one on you at a time). Trigger the potion by right clicking on it in a top level inventory slot and you will end up in Thurgadin, a relatively safe ice city off The Great Divide. Anyone can use these vials, at any level. (I believe at some point last year they had a level limit on them, but do not now). You can alternatively buy gate potions, but they cost a small fortune.
Firstly before you can make these, you need to get your pottery skill up to at least 122, as the combinations become trivial at this skill level. Click the following link for the pottery guide:
To make the gate potion, you will need to do the following:
1) Hail Frundle Frekner in Thurgadin and say to her 'what vial of velium vapors'. She will then hand you a container which will you need to combine your final vial. You do need to have indifferent faction in Thurgadin, or above, to get her to give you one of these without objection....however do not worry if you don't, as if you sneak up to her and then ask her for the vapors, she will still give them to you. (Sneak can be useful sometimes!)
2) Gather or buy the following:
3 Crystalline Silks (Drop from spiders in Crystal Caverns or Velketor's Lab. Can buy in Bazaar for around 10pp or so)
1 Small Brick of Velium (Drop from Ry'Gorr Miners in Crystal Caverns and mobs in Velk's Lab. Buy for around 30pp each)
2 Small Pieces of Velium (Drop from Ry'Gorr Miners in Crystal Caverns and mobs in Velk's Lab. Buy for around 50pp each)
1 High Quality Firing Sheet (Buy from NPC's - there is one by the bank in Thurgadin called Gilthan Brittleblade - 4s 1c each)
2 Glass Shards (Buy from NPC's - there is one by the bank in Thurgadin called Gilthan Brittleblade - 8s 4c each)
3) Combine a the small brick of velium, three unstacked crystalline silks and two glass shards in a pottery wheel. You will receive an Unfired Velium Vial.
4) Combine the Unfired Velium Vial and a High Quality firing sheet in the kiln and receive a Velium Vial
5) Combine the Veluim Vial and two unstacked small pieces of Velium in the Velium purifier. The Velium Purifier disappears and you are left with a Vial of Velium Vapors (better known as a Thurgadin Gate Potion):
