Pottery

Pottery is one of the cheapest trades to learn. It is very useful to get your pottery to at least 122, so that you can create Thurgadin Gate Potions (vials of velium vapour). See the further guide on making these potions at the Bow & Arrow website. An alternative route is to gain an elementary skill via the pottery freebie quest, on the quests page.

I raised my pottery skill in Kelethin and was able to purchase all of the items I needed in that zone. There is also a pottery wheel and a kiln, although to get your skill up, you do not need to fire your items in a kiln. If you are having problems locating the NPC’s that sell the items, click on your ‘find’ hotkey.

Please note that the water flasks must be store bought, you cannot use foraged or summoned items.

Firstly start by making unfired medium containers. To make these you will need:

Unfired Medium Container – Trivial at 36

Block of Clay - Merchant Legweien (Kelethin) – 4s 2c each

Medium Jar Sketch - Merchant Nildar (near orc lift - Kelethin) – 1s each

Water Flask - Merchant Iludarae (near newbie lift – Kelethin) – 1s each

Combine these in a pottery wheel (the location of which will be shown on your in game map) and you receive a message that ‘you can no longer raise your skill by making this item’. Once you receive this message, move onto medium bowls.

Unfired Medium Bowls – Trivial at 122

Block of Clay - Merchant Legweien (Kelethin) – 4s 2c each

Medium Bowl Sketch - Merchant Nildar (near orc lift - Kelethin) – 2s 1c

Water Flask - Merchant Iludarae (near newbie lift – Kelethin) – 1s each

Again, combine these on a pottery wheel until your skill becomes trivial.

If you wish to get your skill slightly higher to 148 (might be wise to avoid failures on combine) then go onto unfired large bowls:

Large Block of Clay - Merchant Legweien (Kelethin) – 1g 4c each

Large Bowl Sketch - Merchant Nildar (near orc lift - Kelethin) – 1p, 5g, 9s, 5c

Water Flask - Merchant Iludarae (near newbie lift – Kelethin) – 1s each

To get your skill to 122 should cost you no more than 40 platinum.
